The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (LASPO) Bill received the Royal Assent on 1st May 2012. Despite the many amendments voted through the House of Lords and vigorous campaigning by many organisations, including APIL (The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) and MASS (The Motor Accident Solicitors Society), the Government voted down most of the Lord’s amendments without concession.
