The UK government has launched a rapid review into the safety of a particular make of breast implants from France to try to re-assure the 40,000 women in this country who have had them implanted. The French government has already announced that it will pay for the 30,000 women there who have implants made by Poly Implant Prosthese (PIP) to have them removed as a preventitive measure. A Cardiff based firm of solicitors has applied to the Cardiff District Registry to commence a group action for claims relating to PIP implant procedures carried out in this country for some 1,000 women.
